Where we went wrong is when we started seeing stuff made for comedy purposes as big statements.

Don't project that everyone else takes Southpark as a bible, if that's what you do. Cause most are just watching a funny cartoon.

According to Wikipedia TC is right. They made ManBearPig because they didn't trust An Inconvenient Truth.

They did make an episode about 10 years later where they end up believing in ManBearPig and Al Gore. I guess they changed their views.

It's not defending Southpark. It's defending comedy as a whole from dying because some people use what they see in Comedy for evil. Which, literally everything is used for evil if you look deep enough. You guys are heading in a direction to get comedy abolished or heavy censored to baby proof the world from idiots. I don't agree with everything Southpark does, especially more recent ones. But I just don't like the idea of a world that no one can make a joke because an idiot or someone with malicious intent might use it outside of the comedy realm.

If South Park were just making jokes and leaning on blue humor then I would get how someone might think people are overreacting to comedy or whatever, but it invites you to pay attention to what they're doing when they're constantly weighing in on political issues and trying to inject the showrunner's opinions on all of them as episode morals. If they didn't want people critiquing their worldview they shouldn't push it to the forefront as much as they do. It isn't censorship when they're broadcasting that shit to everyone.

I agree with that. And I also feel like if you take a comedic approach to non comedic atmosphere and then try to fall back on "it's just jokes", you're the one being a douche and dumb. But when you go to a place literally called "Comedy Central" and act like it should be held by high politically correct standards, you're just being silly. Just coming to this board shows Im fine with things being politically correct in group settings where it's not just all fun in games. But don't go to a place advertising comedy and treat it as having higher meaning than comedy. Same thing as going to a stand up show and acting like the comedian is taking a hard stance on issues.

Geezus guys go back to reddit. South Park is funny. Also if they did believe those things then can they not change? They changed the Al Gore thing. And comedy is not just about your own views, despite what younger TED Talk comedians may think. It can also be parodying stuff and making fun of it regardless of your own opinion. I think a lot of what they do is like that. Idc either way I am watching it and enjoying it. If you dont like it then just dont watch it? No press is bad press.
