I do think there's an over dependance in some cases where dr's will just keep you on meds forever for stuff that can also be treatable with more natural remedies and diet. Some people wouldnt be functional in society (keep a job, relationships, just live) without mood regulators. But also for mild anxiety you can try pills, but could taper off little by little by doing holistic approaches of therapy, diet, meditation. At the same time the pills is what helps people get on their feet and have the will to try that. Now another matter is side effects. If youre going to be on a for life treatment of meds from an early age, its possible some of your organs like kidneys might not take kindly to them. Statins and some beta blockers will wreak havoc on these little by little. Suppossedly there are products that can help you with these. All in all meds are the reason life expectancy has increased so much. At the same time not everything that glitters is gold and cant always trust the dr when they want to treat little things quickly with meds.
