Screw Rings of Power. The one that REALLY gutted me was Wheel of Time. Talk about a soulless, pointlessly dark, his of a series that clearly doesn't understand the fundamental points of the source material. For what its worth, I really despise what Game of Thrones did to modern fantasy storytelling. Ever since it took off, every adaptation of every world feels compelled to go 10 steps too far in the "crapsack world" direction --- Haven't had a good sig idea since 2006 ... Copied to Clipboard!

They set that tone as early as the first episode when they invented a wife for Perrin, just so he could immediately accidentally kill her to make his story arc more edgy. And it just keeps going. A lot more wanton, brutal slaughter of innocents, gratuitous torture scenes, even their big, capstone victory at the end of the season is punctuated with --- Haven't had a good sig idea since 2006 ...
