Current Events > Anyone watching that Ghosts TV show? UK version or US version

Recently heard about this show and it caught me by surprise. The US version has Rose Mciver, who went from dealing with zombies in iZombie to dealing with ghosts in Ghosts. It's based on a UK show with a similar premise which I'm watching now.

Any fans, thoughts on the show? I've been looking for a comedy to watch while waiting for Party Down and What We Do in The Shadows to finish up. After watching Superstore last year and really enjoying it, I'm open to comedy shows I missed out on initially that aren't Schur shows or Modern Family.

Dang. I'm not too crazy about UK comedy myself, I like dry humor but most of UK shows end up being a bit of a chore to watch

Have you tried Letterkenny? Give it a couple episodes if not, for a show primarily about hicks and rejects, it's surprisingly clever and fun

I enjoyed Ghosts a lot btw. UK version much more so, but US is good too

Huh, a Canadian show. The last Canadian show I watched was Schitt's Creek, the year before Superstore. Is it a stoner comedy type?

Both us and uk versions of Ghosts is hilarious. So is letterkenny. You can get all of them on Hulu

I'm getting a feeling this show is meant for us to laugh at them and not for people who are geniuenly interest in the supernatural? lol

I've watched both but I prefer the American version, not the original isn't good.

It's a CBS sitcom so I assumed it sucked but Rose McIver is almost enough to get me to watch it

Yeah I tend to steer away from anything that isn't sports on broadcast channels because I just assume it's cheesy and sucks.

So do I. But Ghosts is legit

I also just heard about Ghosts recently and am gonna start watching the UK version soon.

I'd recommend Abbott Elementary for a good recent comedy.

Letter Kenny is really good
And I've only seen the US version of ghosts but it's solid
And the lead actress was the yellow RPM power ranger

I also recommend how I met your father
It's first season wasn't the best but it's second season feels like it finally found its footing

Oh and you gotta watch the show from
It's not comedy though it's an hour long horror show

found the uk version more amusing

the us version is mostly unfunny but it's more endearing for sure

I love the us version, the uk version is a bit dry for me.

Yeah I will say I was a bit crestfallen that it was under CBS and not NBC, but Rose was enough to make me watch izombie, and I ended up loving that in the beginning so she's enough to make me want to watch.

I just got both, I think I'll watch the british version and then american version. Funnily enough the british version hasn't actually finished airing, there's still one more season reportedly.

I've been watching the American version and have been enjoying it a lot. I'm aware of the UK version, but haven't seen it though. I may check it out in the future

uk version is superior but the us version aint bad

I'm caught up on the US version. I find it pretty damn good. My favorite ghost is the guy without a head.

Ok the show is not half bad. I actually like the actress. For a premise as old school and quaint as "being haunted by ghosts" it's still grabbing my attention.

So the plague victims in the basement... they're just the same actors as the regular ghosts right, with different makeup done on them?

Still amusing

I already finished the first season, and overall I've come to like some of the characters. The poor camp counselor who died is nice, the giddy lady is sweet, the 80s politician is annoying in a funny way, the old lady is just annoying.

Am a fan of the UK version but will check out the US version soon if I can.

Have you seen Wellington Paranormal? It's a spinoff of What We Do in the Shadows and I think it's better.

Ted Lesso is also an excellent show. Only Murders in the Building is a comedy/drama show that I also found hilarious.

Ok so I'm officially a fan, on season 2 now. I like it. For a comedy show that plays off the character's death as jokes, it has some surprisingly heartfelt moments.

I've only seen the UK version of Ghosts and I absolutely love it. Wish they'd hurry up and add the latest season to HBO.

I just realized what it is I'm liking. It's doing the Lost/The Good Place thing of flashbacks into the characters' lives, and I'm here for it.

So... Wellington Paranormal is basically Cops with a supernatural twist right? Gonna save this for when I finish Ghosts and get back into WWDITS again.

Officially binging the show, it's won me over pretty quick. I'm now sad that there are only 6 episodes a season, that's only 24 episodes so far. Funny how one season of the american version is about equal to 4 seasons of british television.

I hope enjoying the UK version this much won't hamper my enjoyment of the US one.

OK so even the character I previously disliked, I now have sympathy for and actually like. This show is way better than I could have anticipated

Yeah sitcoms in the UK have always been 6 episodes a season.

Already on season 4. So in this lore the characters can move on. Will they do any possession like in the movie Ghost. They already did a similar thing with Julian where he gets really tired and strained if he tries to move things.

I keep seeing this and thinking about that Ghosted show with Craig Robinson, that show was funny but got cancelled after a season I think.

trevor in the us version does get tired himself. Most notably in one episode where he uses steam to talk to Jay (the husband character) There's already been 2 episodes about possession in US ghosts.

Welp just finished binging the series. Overall great show, can't get over how much it surprised me.

I watched the UK Ghosts as soon as it was available on HBO Max. Still waiting for the latest series to drop on there and if doesn't soon, I might have to hit the high seas.

When I heard they were doing a US version, I was skeptical because they almost always ruin US adaptations of UK shows. Surprisingly, it's pretty dang good too!
