The show, "Who Killed Daigoro Tokuyama?" was the show that started it all for me. It is the reason I'm heavily into the idol industry which started from Keyakizaka46.

The show featured a whole class of girls of whom I had no idea were idols. It as really well directed and interesting. After watching it, I decided to look up the theme song and found out every girl in the show was a part of the same idol group. This surprised me and I looked them up and started to watch all their MV's. And from there my interest grew heavily. Started to watch all their media, variety shows, lives ect.

Lol yeah that's exactly my line of thought! Then you have Korean Brands like Hybe grabbing the best idols and their talent like Yurina!

At least Japan still has a stronghold on Manga and anime! Even though I dont watch that stuff.

And that is where J-pop went wrong. The Western J-pop fandom was synonymous with the weeb subculture, so it came with a lot of baggage. K-pop made it to where it was in the West on its own merits. Anime made people into fans of J-pop. K-pop made people into fans of Korean pop culture (manhwa, food, fashion, K-dramas).

Yeah. I speak to any Jpop fan here in London, and they almost entirely equate it to anime. Its kind of disheartening since there are so many artists and actors out there in dramas, movies and the music industry who aren't appreciated unless they are a part of an anime series.

Hell, even the biggest Jpop idol groups like the Sakimichi 46 series, cute, the AKB sister groups or Bish are not known at all in the west. But in Asia they are huge.

Yurina is so great. I can't wait to see her in more movies. Going to watch Roppongi Class just for her, but really hope she appears more on TV.
