But for at least as long as I've been aware, games have always gone out of their way to let you know that male or female does not change gameplay in an rpg. From Baldur's Gate in 1998 to mmos like Everquest and World of Warcraft. None of these games ever dare to give different stats based on your gender. Meanwhile in real life, in professional sports, males and females almost always are separated in totally distinct leagues. Would it be offensive if an rpg had a male character have higher starting strength but a female character started with higher dexterity? Ratchetrockon 03/30/23 12:56:19 AM #5:	arcanum kind of has this. can choose between 12 different pre-generated characters. the women have 1 point lower str than the men of the same race (you can play as like 5 diff races). can make your own character tho which negates this since you choose which stats to raise in the beginning (affected by character background and race as well) iirc.been a while since i played it tho --- I'm a Taurus. Besides, if it's a fantasy setting, then realism shouldn't be the biggest concern. On a 100 point scale, they were usually 5 or 10 point differences, but they added up to the same amounts.
