They're quite different tbh (both mechanically and structurally), so no re4r does not make re4 irrelevant.

Hell no. Re4make isnt nearly as campy, Ashley doesnt have ballistics and panty shots, and the Red9 is nerfed. They both have their place

Yes. Atmosphere has triumphed over gameplay and seriousness have prevailed over campiness.
The Last Of Us and RDR2 have taken over and soon you will have to buy each button on the controller individually.

if you prefer the original you're a perv and just like it due to nostalgia. The REmake has no silliness, no fanservice, and isn't as transphobic as the first game (no "did you forget your make up" line)

red 9 is still pretty dope with the stock and fully upgraded

Is it still as action based as the original or more survival horror like the 2 and 3 remakes? From the videos Ive seen it seems a lot less forgiving.

Yeah, I was planning to use it even if it's trash, but I'm having no issues with it.

I did immediately upgrade it as much as possible and I'm comparing it to the base-statted basic handgun though.

It's much more action-based than RE2 and RE3, but I'd say not quite as much as the original. It's pretty free with the handgun ammo, but I've been running consistently low on shotgun and rifle ammo. It's even worse on Hardcore and Professional from what I hear. I only did just get to the castle though and RE games always throw more and more ammo at you the further you get.

And yeah, the ganados are much more aggressive. Getting into a crowd of them is bad news bears. And aside from the parasite headbursters from the original, there's also a new mechanic where downed enemies can sometimes begin seizing. If you don't put them down with a knife, they come back up as a "broken neck" ganado which is much more difficult to kill.

Its even more action based than the original. Enemies are aggresive as hell thus you have to make use of the knife parry mechanic to deflect thrown shit like axes, melee weapon attacks, and the crouch button to duck the many, many grabby feely attempts damn near every enemy in the game has. Like with the mendez boss fight, in the original RE4 its just a matter of running forward or away from him to dodge his melee attemps, 180 turn, get shots off, rinse and repeat until dead. In the RE4 remake version of the fight, you have to dodge flaming wood thrown at you, shoot the barrels in his hands to hit him with some exposions, knife parry the melee attack coming straight at you, and the crouch button to QTE dodge the swipe melee attack....its a bit more going on.

There's noticably less camp than in OG. There is still some liners here and there but it's definitely diminished.
