Matt Mercer has mentioned a few times in Critical Role that his interpretation of infinite water spells is that they're just small portals to the water plane which drain water into the material plane. When one of the players turns into a fish and swims up an infinite fountain, they literally swap planes and have to avoid being eaten by some otherwordly monster. There are also two instances in the show where a torrential jet of water is pouring in, one with enough force to launch people into the air.

So I don't know science, but assuming it works the same way Earth does, is Exandria slowly flooding the planet with every magically created fountain? Or does water naturally leave the system through the atmosphere, enough that it'd offset the magic increase?

It depends on the DM. The answer can go either direction depending on their whim as there are quite a few in-universe ways to have either be true.

It would, however, be a fun apocalypse campaign following an earlier one where the party has great incentive to pull a bunch of water over.

So was Predathos unleashed...or...? Is this the world because BH marginally succeeded? I'm only a quarter into episode 53 so maybe we get more info. But. Idk.

I'm talking from a real world perspective. Exandria is what made me wonder, but the same could be if an advanced race of alien fish people popped open wormholes all over the place.

Hasn't been confirmed, but it's looking very much like Ludinus didn't succeed as much as he wanted to. I imagine if BH hadn't managed to blow up one key and marginally fuck up the main one, it would be out.
