Absolutely not to a lot of that list. I'm on a horror podcast so I've seen some of those, and a lot of em don't even come close.

The Color Out of Space?

r u fucking kidding me. this is 100% just a list of movies that:

  1. you've seen
  2. you like
edit: black christmas???? the blob???? CARRIE???? MAGIC??? BLACK FUCKING MAGIC???!?!?!?! rear-are-you-fucking-crazy-window.

I can give you some of them:

Rosemary's Baby
Alien
Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Others are good, but nowhere near the thing (High Tension).

Then you leave out Halloween and Friday the 13th. Both of which have several installments almost as good as The Thing.

THEN the lack of other Carpenter movies is distressing.

smh smh smh

I've seen at least half your list and most of them aren't even fucking close to the Thing. Even stuff that I love, like Dr. Phibes or the People Under the Stairs, are not on that level.

And WTF at putting Dawn & Day of the Dead on the list but leaving off the genre defining Night of the Living Dead?

Climax (2018)

huh

I don't get this one. It had a scene that was like 15 minutes of dancing and I was like "okay cool these characters are all dancers I get the point" 10% of the way through it and it just dragged on and on and on. It felt longer than 15 minutes and I had to fast forward some of it. After that it was just a visual hallucinagen trip fot the rest of the movie (and literally that's what it was also >_>). I dunno. I wasn't a fan. The style was just a big swing and a miss for me. The long single-take shots were definitely impressive, so respect to all the actors for that (including the dance scenes I didn't care for. Still really impressive), but otherwise it just felt like a chaotic mess that overstated its point.

No it's not. This is a list of films I firmly believe there's a case to be made for. There are lots and lots of movies I like that I would never include on this list. Lots of the films I don't even think there needs to be a case to be made, like it should be blatantly obvious they're better films - Rear Window, Cannibal Holocaust, American Werewolf in London, Martyrs, Candyman, Audition, Repulsion, Possession, etc.

And Halloween is massively overrated and most of the sequels are so milquetoast and bland. Friday the 13th films are okay, but they're not like critically well made films that have much to offer.

EDIT: wait, how is Black Christmas a shocking inclusion?
