the first few episodes were rough but after ep 4 it kept getting better and better, and as a fan of the OG, i think stampede surpassed the OG anime with the last few episodes.

I disliked the CG art style when I saw the trailer, but it's not as bad as I thought. Really good show.

it's good, but there's no reason for it to be Trigun. it really should have been its own Anime.

Bruh? It's literally using the same characters and setting. It's literally a remix of Trigun.

They are just using Trigun characters to get noticed. It could have simply been a Trigun inspired Anime rather than a modern remake.

It's different enough to be worth watching. Same premise though.

I realized too late who is posting these hot takes, and now it makes sense.

But yeah, Stampede is very, very good. It starts out very different from the original anime, but have faith and you'll most likely end up enjoying it a lot like I did.

I'm holding off any kind of final judgement until I see where they go with S2, because S1 perfectly sets up them going into Trigun Maximum (with a few minor modifications).

Edit: I was with everyone else at the start when it came to this not really being "trigun" but treated as a prequel to Trigun that ends with characters basically where they need to be, both in terms of plot and as people, I can accept it.

I watched the first two eps and it seemed okay at best. Didn't really grab me like the original, which continues to be in my top 5 animes of all time. I'll continue it eventually tho

Ending Spoilers: he loses it in the last episode firing off an angel arm and will likely have his more "traditional" gun arm in S2

Like, for people who are still on the fence, you can treat the entirety of S1 as a flashback to the July incident from the original series (which we only ever heard about and never saw because it took place before the start) and (again, outside of a few changes) you end up back in the Trigun we know and love.

Walkable carpet than the OG, but his character growth in this way is very intended as he grew out of his cowardice that he hides in the name of pacifism.

Eh, glad to hear its good, but the art style just looks awful to me, so I have no interest in watching it.

Yea, I have every reason to believe that Vash will have grown a bit of a spine after everything he went through in Stampede and be much closer to the "badass pretending to be a clown" that he was in the OG series.

Studio Orange stuff always looks way worse in stills than it does in motion. What gets lost in translation is the use of CG lets them be FAR more dynamic with camerawork than in traditional 2D animation where 90% of each scene is flat shots of 2 people talking to save money for the big action moments.

On one hand it was amazing in every technical respect, on the other its story was a hot mess. It's hard to not get VIIR vibes with just how hard it missed the point of the original and instead just threw in bombastic action to try and cover having any depth.

Fair enough. I'll admit I probably have a lower bar in terms of CG in anime than some folks, and while Stampede's biggest setpieces aren't as epic as something like Sieg vs Karna in Fate Apocrypha, I do believe that the moment-to-moment is more dynamic than other properties.
