It isnt a ball named after the owner, it is a status descriptor.

The ball is the king, or master, of all balls. It is the highest ranking.

Its weird how all the pokemon games after gen 1 kept adding more types of balls so weird when all they had to do was just add more master balls. We don't need different types of balls, just master ball to capture any pokemon

That's a good point, has there even been any canon explanations as to why the people who manufacture Pok Balls don't just make nothing but master balls

Not canon as far as I'm aware but I always assumed it required rare/expensive materials like only the rich could afford them kinda thing

Or pokemon is treated like a sport/hobby so the best gear is naturally expensive and intentionally made hard to come by.
