....off of itunes yrs ago? Will apple give you the song that you paid for before, for free? Isn't this similar to how many people view stuff like PSN and if it were to be shut down and digitally downloaded games that you've paid for?

Of course not.

No. I'm pretty sure iTunes wiped some like, local band EP stuff I had ages ago and I never got refunded / a free download if it ever came back / before it left.

Ive never checked to see if anything I got on iTunes became unavailable but I was still able to access it.

Everythings downloaded onto my computer anyway, as well as on a couple iPod classics that I have.

Maybe I should start burning my purchases to disc too

TC didn't claim you can't download the music he asked if Apple gave you the music some other way.

While he asked if it was similar to shutting down PS3's store, the answer is no.

if iTunes was shut down why is it still open and you can buy music off it?

Music you've already purchased and owned appears in the user library tab in Apple Music.

Its not the same though? As long as you have bought the game, its fine right? That's a bit different than itunes.

That's why I buy cds and listen to music on YouTube.

Really hard for me to do that when most new computers and even cars lack CD drives. Sigh.

Because Apple doesn't have a solution for Windows based users. The Apple Music app is still in beta on Windows. Don't get too attached to iTunes, Apple will eventually shut it down once Apple Music is ready for prime time.

its pretty obvious the new apple music app is going to have all your music you bought from apple. i dunno if you can download music into a .mp3 format though, i dont think you can do that with the current itunes right?

We can't see beyond the presentation layer in regards to services. Maybe they're gonna reuse the store service and rebrand it as Apple Music and it be a component of it. Maybe they gutted it out for a new vision. Maybe they wrote a new one. Maybe it's streaming all the way and there will be no store.

In terms of the application and the processes you know now: you do not have a guarantee they will remain unchanged.

Your takeaway should be this: Prepare for it to be discontinued as a just in case. Do you really want to trust Apple with being one of the good guys and letting old services run?

For iPods, synchronizing functionality was moved to the Finder app on macOS. No idea for Windows.

there would almost certainly have to be a way on windows. itunes isnt just used for syncing music but also device recovery and the like. if you want to reinstall ios on a device, you need itunes to boot it into recovery mode. id bet $20 on that functionality being ported over to the new app

im pretty sure this is basically the windows 11 of itunes. pretty much just a reskin and maybe a couple different features

You have to remember though: The iPod line is retired outright by Apple and Apple isn't the kind of company to go out of their way for Windows users.

You have to make your decision: Do you trust Apple to have your back on Windows? Maybe for iPhones but I wouldn't count on it for iPods.
