Money is after taxes, no questions asked

If you choose cooking, you will immediately become the best chef in the world. While you might not be immediately recognized as such, you will have skill, knowledge, and ability beyond any known chef in the world. You will even have the magical power of "chef's kiss" in where on every full moon, you become the, "divine taste!" itself, that is able to forge new recipes that perfect the taste of something, or even create a new better recipe of anything you want. Whole new dishes and all! On new moons you can use "Divine taste of the night!" to create new recipes that will do one small thing you like that you can only cook or eat on that night. Such as new tiktok trend recipes, recipes that otherwise become famous sensations revered by top chef's all over the world, or even recipes that give you a slight, 15% 2 day long boost in energy, stamina, or happiness, or even lightening of fatigue! (Only one active at a time for yourself and others. You can feed these to up to four people including yourself.

However, there is a catch! The rules are as ironclad as stone, and you cannot break them, nor can you break the ways of the chef and dishonor yourself by purposely cooking crappy food, nor can you ever tell anyone where you got your power and ability. Nor are you allowed to try to loophole around this. If you do try, you will not only fail but receive the ire of chef's around the world, and lose you're power for each time. The first time, you lose "Divine taste of the night!" The second time, you loose "Divine taste!" After the third time, your skills will be cut down by half, permanently. This will happen again the next 3 attempts. After that, you will be put down to a fourth of your power, and become a werechef! Where you will only be able to cook something decently good at night!

I know that being top chef gives a lot of potential to exceed $100,000, but only with a ton of hard work. I think Id rather just have the money.

Top chef is but no effort other than to cook, you will have the skill, the talent, all of it. However, I see that your heart simply isn't in it. 100 grand it is.

How about the fact that "paying" $100,000 for the skills of the greatest chef in the world and "superpowers" is an incredible bargain?

Top chef in the world is gonna make more than 100k a year once established.

Usually I'd take the money because working in a kitchen sucks even if you're the top chef in the world, but I did struggle to cook a pork chop that ended up being mediocre earlier so I am tempted...

it's tough because working in food service is hell. not a job I'd ever want to have. I'm sure I'd have to climb the ladder even if I was the most talented in the world. I'm too old for that and don't like cooking as a job.

I also kind of hate the Eurocentricity of so much "fine dining." It's always some garbage about "all you need is salt and fat," and caring about the price and quality of ingredients rather than herbs and spices. I watched an interesting TikTok recently that talked about the white supremacy tied to fine dining and Italy and France, etc. always winning food competitions -- and how many European countries kind of fed into the narrative that spices were for who they deemed poor people, like people from poorer Asian countries, African Americans, etc.

Edit: I'll continue to be a slightly above average cook who still seasons food well and makes it tasty, even if it's not perfect from a technical standpoint.
