The quoting of the verse in question gives me the impression that his understanding of that verse is that it's a universal rule that applies everywhere on Earth rather than a rule established for that group of Israelites under Moses and how they were supposed to present themselves in the Promised Land.

This is the equivalent of listening to an introductory seminar held for new hires at McDonalds and believing the uniform policy to be internationally recognized in public so everyone has to wear the McDonald's uniform even if they don't work at McDonald's.

Even if that verse does apply to everyone on Earth, since transwomen are women and transmen are men that verse doesn't apply to them anyway.

Dang good for him for standing up for his beliefs. Everyone has different beliefs in the smash community. Not everyone agrees with each other. They shouldn't discriminate Christians.

I'll take it a step further and point out that many denominations disagree with the literal interpretation of that verse. Both male and female Israelites wore the same garments. So that verse is specifically referring to garments worn by non-israelite religions. Therefore, the text should not be seen as a prohibition of cross-dressing as it is commonly misconstrued, but a law against idolatry.

TLDR, it's saying that those that wear garments associated with other religions are the abominations. It's not about crossdressing or transgender people.
