Super-Sized Trapdoor Spider Discovered in Australia

Researchers in Australia have made a big discovery: a super-sized species of trapdoor spider found only in Central Queensland. The arachnid has been dubbed Euoplos dignitas, a name "derived from the Latin dignitas meaning dignity or greatness, reflecting the impressive size and nature of the spider, scientists with the Queensland Museum said in a statement. The spider lives in open woodland habitats and builds its burrows in the black soils of the Brigalow Belt in Central Queensland, which is on the northeastern coast of Australia.

1.5 - 3 cm for typical ones apparently.

This one is:

The females of this rare species can live for over 20 years in the wild and grow up to 5cm long - large in trapdoor spider terms.
The males grow up to 3cm.

No info if they're venomous or not but I'm going to go on a limb and say they're highly deadly. Look at the size of these monsters.

At a museum they have a counter estimating the number of species that have gone extinct. You can sit there and watch it go up like one every half minute or similar iirc
