Just learned this today.

Go into your television's network settings.

Change the DNS Server from automatic to manual.

Enter the following for the address:
94.140.14.14

A full movie would normally waste your time with at least 15 to 25 minutes of ads.

With this method, they get skipped and you get none. :D

My biggest pet peeve with my smart TV is definitely the weaker ad blocking. Can this be applied to other apps?

---
I missed the part where that's my problem.

I'm sure adguard DNS will work on at least some other apps on the TV. I use it on my phone and it blocks advertisements across most apps, including Chrome.

I'm a little worried, privacy wise, to filter all requests through a company's server, for free. I would imagine the recoup costs by selling data. Is there any documentation that says whether they keep logs or not?

My old setup was Ublock Origin on Chrome with my PC and then casting that to the television in another room.

It was confusing for me to understand.

But yeah, adblocking on Hulu works for laptops and desktops.

Not many other streaming services though (Peacock will complain once but nothing comes of it), but it seems like Hulu couldn't care less if you do this.

I wish. I just booted it up with the new DNS and got a YouTube ad straight away on the TV app.

Nothing I know of can fight against YouTube except for NewPipe SponsorBlock. :/

I guess you could try the built in web browser on your TV and go here instead.

Basically all they'd have is an IP address, and all that tells marketers is IP addresses that are actively avoiding advertising.
