Anyway, climate change skepticism, in this day and age, is very rarely in good faith. A whole lot of motivated reasoning coming from people who have been convinced by republican politicians that green policy will hurt their bottom line.

That, and also people who react like they're being directly attacked when someone suggests that maybe it's a good idea to consider living a little more environment-consciously, as if they feel they are being blamed for everything and need to change everything in their entire lifestyle right now.

Wouldn't matter much if he did. The US is far from the only contributor to global pollution and Biden has zero sway on what they do. They just fudge their numbers and lie anyway; it's not like competing world powers respect American opinions enough for full disclosure anyway. The US really isn't that powerful anymore...

As a world leading country, the US has a huge precedent to set. Also, it's not like these other countries don't have the same stake in this issue as we do. It's more problematic for less prosperous countries, though those are often the ones using outdated, harmful technology. The more we can help move other countries toward cleaner energy, the more manageable the oncoming future will be for everyone.

So Kumbaya and all that good stuff...

this. it isn't like there will be one cataclysmic event that immediately annihilates everything, it is an observable reality that climate change is becoming more and more of a problem and the effects are becoming more and more extreme. this isn't some crackpot theory, it is settled and observable science.

you must live in a totally different world then. individuals can do their part but the overall issue is with nations and corporations doing nothing and exacerbating the problem.

Final warning? Ahh only ones that will really make a difference are the corporations and governments of the world.

Well it's a pretty deliberate strategy by corporations to shift the focus to what we can do as individuals. The "carbon footprint" metric was invented by an oil company to divert attention away from them. Etc

Recycling is actually harmful for the environment and always was tbqh. The whole recycling myth was created by the plastic industry to shift blame onto the consumer. Now we have microplastics everywhere.
