I get interesting person envy. Like I know some people who spend their precious free time developing crafts, reading enriching books, foraging for wild foods, doing art, having board game nights

Me...I just go to the gym, play videogames, indulging in weird kink behaviour and watch absolute trash on Netflix. I am a trashcan

I feel like my hobbies consist of too much consumption and not enough "creation" or creativity.

My favorite hobby is doing nothing and I'm not ashamed of it

as far as board game nights/game nights go, I've only been a part of a few, but if you can get a decent group (just a group of family and/or friends whose company you enjoy), they can be really fun.

even if they're all as new to it as you are.

My most recent hobby is hyper consumerist, though I enjoy collecting records and listening to my favorite musicians I'm hoping I can get a little more creative if I take up another new hobby.

I think I enjoy the idea of them more than the reality.

What my idea is: bunch of nerdy friends wholesomely engaging in light competition and banter
Reality: no no, now that you've landed on the green square you have to skip two turns and roll the dice 3 times and then divide your dice score by the amount of red cards you have in your fund pile, and then place the top scoring red card into the non-fund pile but only if your gateway card begins with a vowel

I do not judge my life by the actions of others.
I am unique and am perfect. They are inferior, not I.

I've only played basic stuff like Clue and Monopoly, so the sessions were more about just hanging out.

I would like to get into some of the more involved games in the future, though.

I'd invite you to my game nights in a heartbeat. We're pretty chill, and we try to balance between "simple games with banter" and only every so often play something more heavy.

Yeah. People ask "what do you do for fun" and I'm literally like, video games and tv.

I have a toddler so I try to justify it as literally only having a few hours to myself a day, but then I go to work and hear co-workers talking about the wood furniture they've built and I'm like "how tf do you have time for that?"

I recently downloaded a bird ID app so I can identify birds in my backyard and catalogue them on the app. Ive always been interested in getting into bird watching as a hobby and this app is a stepping stone into that for me

No, I haven't thought about whether your hobbies suck or not.

Now if you put that in quotation marks I could answer more in line with what you're looking for.

Just pick something and commit, I became kind of addicted to learning new skills, so I take on something until I get good at it, and move on to something else. Whether or not they suck, or are lame or whatever is subjective. I'm sure people think farming and gardening sucks, but I enjoy it. Get rid of caring about the perception other people have, if you like what you do, then do it. If that's just gaming, working out and watching stuff, there's nothing wrong with that. Don't call yourself a trashcan lol.

As for myself, I guess I got lucky that I at least stumbled upon a really good creative outlet for myself in my writing. It's only slightly artistic so I don't have to feel like I'm running my creative well dry.

Only thing is it's still not something that leads to socializing and making friends.

I have my game night group because we all knew each other from high school, specifically band. Of course, the game nights are why we stay together. :)
