Unlikely. Kazakhstan and Russia are both members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. In terms of alliance, it would be like if the US decided to invade New Zealand. Also, if Russia really wanted to push the issue, Kazakhstan gets most of its imports from Russia, given that they're a landlocked country, that borders Russia, this probably not something they should consider fucking around with.

One could argue that's been slowly happening since 1995, given the origins of the SCO.

Politically, it looks like Russia isn't exactly in great favor with their allies right now, exempting Belarus which is a puppet regime anyway, their President has all but outright said it. I've heard China hasn't been willing to assist Russia with their fuck up in Ukraine either, so it looks like Russia is pretty well going to be put over a barrel by China and other allies with a choice of "either have a half functional economy where we cooperate" or "keep dicking around in Ukraine and wasting lives and money. Because that worked so well for you in Afghanistan in the 80s."

Alternatively, I'm just sleep deprived and rambling.

I played around with the idea that Putin could take out Zelenskyj with a Rod From God.
Then it hit me that it would probably be easier to send up a space rocket, perhaps not even entering space, place it above Kiev and drop it down.
And then it hit me that Russia must still have some working ICBMs, a dozen or so of them are probably both cheaper and more effective.

Russia is already hitting with as many non nuclear missiles they have. They're even turning Nuclear ones into regular missiles to keep up.

Rod from God is only theoretical anyway. No one has ever even come close to building any kind of weaponry designed to attack from LEO or beyond.

In theory it's a violation of international law. particularly the Outer Space Treaty. Though that's debatable since "a giant metal pole" doesn't qualify as a WMD, even if the impact would have a similar effect.

Really, the only reason no one has actually designed and built a Rods from God system is probably the cost involved compared to either sending a wet work team to kill someone, or launching cruise missiles at whatever you're upset with. Seems like it would be fairly easy to add them to spy sats.
