Oh so now they didn't want to shoot the dogs. Figures they'd hold themselves back only when it means they're actually about to be helpful.

Because they aren't pits. I posted about this woman in a pit topic and it was completely ignored. They don't care about other breeds of dogs mauling people, just pits. Shows their bias.

As far as why this topic is not filled with anti-pit bull rhetoric, I suppose one reason for that is the murder beasts are purported to be of a different breed which most people, including their owners, acknowledge to be more dangerous, and which doesn't make up the dominant breed in shelters, illegal fighting operations, and so on. If the killers were confirmed to have pit admixture, the anti-PB crowd would probably speak up then, and no doubt get a bit heated up from easy-to-imagine replies like, "They were just playing, they were confused when she tried to break up the fight, my furbabies Nala and Diablo would never, they must be terrified by what happened, I'm so glad they were only tranquilized." You usually don't see anyone say things like that when a Great Dane kills, as in this case, or an Akita Inu, a wolfdog, or whatever.

Very big dogs like great Danes are rare and generally not a concern for most people. Even the most anti pibble person you can find probably won't claim that they're the most dangerous breed. There's even shit out there like Dogo Argentino which is just a bigger stronger angrier pit bull.

There's also a cost factor. Great Dane puppies are usually only going to be available from breeders while you can get APBT adopts for almost nothing because they're everywhere.

Im guessing the third dog was a pitbull, whom by merely being present, was enough to instigate aggression in the other dogs using the pibblefield effect.

Well dogs do sometimes act differently if someone else starts the aggression

My mom has 2 dogs and 1 is usually very friendly but if the other dog starts barking at something, the first one will join in. She is friends with a dog in the neighborhood m but one time the other dog got aggressive at it, and the first dog started barking at the neighbor dog that she normally is nice to

There are hundreds of dog breeds out there, and the pitbull breed is responsible for 66% of fatal maulings. The other 34% is spread among the next top 9.

because presumably this actually is an isolated incident by comparison to the number of pitbull attacks

So were they purebred danes, or did they have... other... dogs in their ancestry?

Define strict. Like I said before, I think very large dogs and breeds known for violent tendencies should require a federal license to own.

I was thinking bans on future breeding. If humans can create dog breeds, then they can stop creating certain dog breeds. It's the same thing that needs to happen with sickly breeds which are a result of human vanity. I have no hatred for any dog themselves, do not blame them, and do not think any living dogs should be taken from their owners and destroyed. We just need to fix our mistakes.
