MJOLNRVII 03/18/23 11:50:08 PM #4:	I beat it at 80 and half hours I think. I ended up playing for another 20 hours afterwards though finishing up sidequests and the superboss. I did it blind so some of the stuff that took me a while to figure out were beginning to get frustrating. I felt like such a dummy when I accidentally found the entrance to ~~the Infernal Castle~~ after it was driving me nuts. [LFAQs-redacted-quote] Fantastic. I like that there are three different songs associated with each character. They have their own themes, another set of themes for some cutscenes before a boss in their chapters, and then they all have a different variation of one of the boss themes for their respective final bosses. I think the stories are better, the day/night system gives everyone two path actions so you can be more flexible in your party making, the battle system is tweaked in a way that makes individual characters feel more unique with latent powers and EX skills, to name a few. Oh also the addition of crossed paths / actual interwoven storylines. I haven't gotten to it yet but I heard this one wraps up better than the first. PrideOfLion posted... The 4 special jobs aren't the same as the first Octopath fwiw. Scintillant posted... I haven't gotten to it yet but I heard this one wraps up better than the first. Way better. Also a minor thing I like in this game is that the journal will automatically save every banter you did or didn't see as you play through chapters. If you didn't have a specific character in your party for a chapter you can just see the banter you missed after finishing it. PrideOfLion posted... Should you play the first one first? You don't have to. There's a returning character from the first game that's in two sidequests, but plotwise it isn't required.
