I just finished season 1 and it's pretty fucking solid. There were some characters that I personally felt should've stayed alive longer and now feel like missed opportunities and there were certain situations that I felt characters should've had a stronger reaction to certain characters dying. But all of tat is nitpicks. It was mostly a political show and I loved it. The interactions with the characters and how interesting things played out and delivered were spectacular. I never watched any of the GoT stuff, but now I feel like I should after watching this show. People said to skip Season 6-7 for being terrible, but does that mean Season 5 leaves off from a cliffhanger?

Oh sorry, for some reason I thought there was only 7 seasons. I heard from others on CE that season 7 and 8 are the weakest in the series. Will I miss out if I skip them?

It sure as hell does not, it starts slipping in 5 and 6. 7 and 8 are awful, but the cracks were showing before that.

EDIT: I'll leave this up and realized I misread what you wrote, and yeah, 8 is the only really awful one but the ones before it aren't much better. Around when they run out of book material is when shit gets real poor.

That makes sense. I don't normally read books but this series is starting to intrigue me a whole lot. I'm thinking of first watching it and then reading the books.

I say keep watching it. Even the bad seasons have a good episode here and there (sans 8, which could have had at least one but decided to turn the brightness to 0)

Yeah, I meant to watch it since the day it released, but I never got around to it. I'll probably watch it pretty soon.

It dips in season 5 with Jamies storyline, and half of Arya & Sansas storylines.

With Season 6 the quality returns except for Aryas storyline. And the season ends so damn good with several events that happen.

Yeah I watched House of the Dragon and liked it a lot, never watched GoT.
