in austin weed is decriminalized and nobody cares. if you drive outside travis county though it's full of state troopers and small burb cops that are looking to fuck you up the ass

A lot of comedy clubs and concert venues do it because the artists do not want their material posted on the internet.

Not necessarily because of the content, but if a comic is on tour and getting ready to record their special, they don't want someone recording the whole set an posting it online.

It's basically the live version of movie bootlegging.

Kevin Hart did the same thing when I saw him this summer, and I don't think it was to curb the "woke mob" from hearing his set.

Reading this article, other than the acts he had on opening night, it just sounds like your regular comedy club. Funny thing is, the part that stood out the most was how affordable the drinks were.

2 drinks at a club for less than $20? That's unheard of here in NY.

There's no way the club could sustain itself with the gimmick of being the "anti-woke" comedy club. That was basically the night 1 gimmick to get people to write and talk about the club's opening.

It actually wasn't bad.

If the show is good, you shouldn't be reaching for the distraction that is your phone.

The only bad part was waiting on line to get the phone pouch unlocked after the show.

Because I don't think it's going to be the "Anti-woke comedy club" people are making it out to be.

Think it'll just be a regular club that, like shironinjapointed out, will just let the market decide.

If you fill it with anti-woke comics and no one shows up, then he'll have to adjust.

I think they should do it at movies too.. I went to see Cocaine Bear last week and had to remind a guy two seats over to turn off his sound alerts as he kept checking his phone. People are the worst.
