I'm an assistant production manager, but I don't have a production manager, so I end up doing the work they would do. One of the production workers allegedly makes the same pay as me, even though he dropped out of college and I have a Master's.

I'm happy he makes such great money, but doesn't that mean I should be making more? Or is it because I'm a "mere" assistant manager on paper?

I found out at my last job that I was making the same as my boss. Bad for him, I guess.

Ask your boss for a raise. Not buddy's fault if he negotiated a better pay

I'm waiting for my probationary period to be over in a few months.

My boss and his boss will probably support it, but his boss (the owner of the company) is known to be stingy af

Why are you basically doing the work of two jobs with no extra pay?

If you only get paid for one job, then just do that job. Otherwise you should be asking for more money.

Don't be suckered into doing free work.

If you manage skilled workers and you yourself arent doing that skilled work they probably make more.

I did something stupid and quit my job over pay without having another job lined up. Fortunately, I got hired for a higher paying job today. A better schedule too. I'm still a little nervous though. Like, I'll feel a lot better when that first paycheck comes in.

Are they wage vs your salary? Production can make more than management where I work, but they work way more hours.

When was your last raise? You should also be able to get it easily if you have great performance and results.

Fair point, but not all of the people we hire are skilled

Both have set monthly pay for a certain amount worked per month (for me 40, for them 42.5 hours)

Never, I just started. But our logistics guy, who's been doing both his work and the work of the second logistics guy that got fired, asked for a raise a while back and got laughed in his face, so...

Sounds dodgy to me. I wouldnt even ask for a raise, because I wouldnt want to stay there.

Id just start looking for a better offer.

not sure how it works in your industry, but where i work, no one's going to hand you a raise as a surprise. this isn't the movies. you're not some prodigy star in some tv show who will get praised and given more money spontaneously. i can't imagine many companies would do this without some sort of actual reason, such as giving you more responsibility, or expecting something from you.

it's up to you to get your money. no one's holding your hand here. you want more? then ask for more, work for more, negotiate for more. you have to be active on it and make sure you're always up to date. otherwise you're just going to get what you get. and if that remains the same over the years while everyone goes up, that's something you should work on solving.
