I don't think this is it. People like Goats keeps coming back when he knows most of CE dislikes him. So it isn't a self-awareness issue at least not for that part. Could be that this is their only social outlet and regardless of how hated they are they have no where else left to go. Which is even sadder IMO.

because for some people, negative attention is better than no attention at all. there's also a "power dynamic" where people who lack control over things IRL enjoy making people online upset because they feel like it gives them control. it's quite pathetic, really.
