So many games I've stuck with only to die at the final boss. The final boss should be a challenge but that challenge should be proportionate to the rest of the game.

Wolfenstein: The New Order suffered with this. I managed to play the game on hard. It was tricky but not to the point of being unfair and I made my way through. But the last boss was such a massive spike in difficultly compared to everything that came before it just became frustrating and felt unfair. I think I ended up dropping it down to easy to beat it in the end because it pissed me off so much.

This is Dying Light 2 for me.

Can't say, it hasn't ever happened to me. I tend to not make it to the final boss if the game is boring and I beat the final boss if I enjoy the game.

I've put more than 2000 hours into Crusader Kings II and never once gotten to the end of a campaign

Don't care. I usually don't care about the story of games, so it doesn't matter if I can't finish the last 1%, I've already gotten my money's worth. Plus I can just YouTube the ending if I want.

It's not that I couldn't beat the final-final boss in Octopath Traveler 1 after so long, but I had had such a good time with the game as a whole that I was fine being done with it. Especially after the tedium that was fighting all 8 bosses again if you lose to the final boss

Meh....more like how many final bosses nowadays end up being an actual challenge where you get stuck?

I've never had that experience.

I also remember a bullshit boss in Lost Odyssey where you were forced to fight it using two of the weakest characters in the game and if you hadn't grinded with them at any point you were shit out of luck and essentially soft locked as there was no way to grind or recover your HP/MP before it.

Also in Lost Odyssey a late game boss in the final area where you had two teams and had to effectively kill two enemies within the same turn which was just such a bullshit moment due to how hard it was to time things.

Meh. I've done everything else, time to move on.
I didn't even bother with the DQ11 endboss, or that Wheel of Harma mess. Grind everyone to 99 and complete the skill tables, and then moved on.

I felt this when I was playing Xenogears on PS2 and it kept freezing

I never beat the final boss of True Crime Streets of LA.

I'm actually playing this game right now and did not know this was going to be a thing. I only just cleared my first chapter 3 yesterday. Wow, that sounds really shitty and unpleasant.

Not exactly 50 hours, but I got to the end of Metroid Dread with 100% item completion and still haven't gotten around to beating Raven Beak. Tried about half a dozen times, got frustrated, hopped on google and learned that I was only on phase 1 of 4 - with the key moving onto the next phase being one of those motherfucking perfectly-timed parries that I adore oh so much - and then let it collect dust.

Can't remember the last time I got up to a final boss in an RPG and couldn't be the final boss due to lack of skill, though.

DQ11. Only fought it once before droppi g the game completely. The story kind of took a nosedive by then and my interest was close to zero at that point.

ME3 was another until recently and I beat it. Tried to beat it way back not long after the game launched but could never get past marauder shields.

Marauder Shields on Insanity is legit fucking hard.

I feel like getting a drink at Weenie Hut Jr.

What's worse is when Metro Exodus corrupts your saves at the end when you played everything on the hardest settings >_>. That happened to me last year.

Edit: appreciate it. All good. It would be really rare someone here who was gonna play it hasn't yet. But it's good to be safe. Ive definitely had to catch myself after when talking about older games. You get a comfortability autopilot when talking about them for so long.

Not 50 hours but Quantum Break I recently played on gamepass. When it came out, it was really well liked apparently. I thought it was pretty basic so when the final boss came around I saw ppl online talking about the BS of it. Watched YT vids and moved tf on

my advice is to make sure everyone in your party is equally leveled instead of having four you use and four on the bench gaining no xp
