Though, for me, it depends. If he would do that every time, Im not sure I could do it, either. Like if he ever picked me up a burger and forewent the cheese, thats a no-go I dont think Ive ever had a hamburger Always cheese burger. 3 dollars for cheese is outrageous. They don't even upcharge that much for bacon here. I would have had the same reaction. It doesn't even sound like he made a big fuss about it. Just declined the cheese after hearing the price and moved on. Her ditching the date over that is dumb as hell.

but it probably isnt great to seem cheap on the first date. Its one thing to be frugal, but to outright be like everything is so expensive these days! I kind of agree that a first date is a bad place to start going in depth with cost and value of food. Dude should just not have asked about the cheese at all.

I kind of agree, but I've also been to really nice seafood restaurants because everyone else wanted to go; but I hate seafood so I just got a burger while they all had lobster and shrimp and shit.

I would have gone for something else in the situation though. The burger might make later activities a little harder.

If the cheese is not added to the burger then no food is wasted. Some people like burger without cheese and some can take it or leave it. If he doesn't want cheese on the burger (due to cost or otherwise) why is that a big deal?

Anyway yeah the deal breaker over 3 dollar cheese is pretty crazy.
