I recently got this laptop for my birthday: https://tinyurl.com/5n86uxpf (amazon link)
So I noticed that the battery would drain while playing something that runs off the graphics card, while plugged in. Is this normal or is it something I should be concerned with or is it a feature with Lenovo?

I did some research and found that it might be the stock charger (135w)
My question is now, can I get the higher wattage charge cord, and will it adversely effect my new laptop

you should take the battery out if its just being plugged it, or it will make the battery not last very long.

edit: this is almost every laptop, and it's not idea.

alternatively, you can just play games off the battery and that's fine also. the problems happen when you consistently drain a battery while it is charging.

the problem is that laptops are too dumb to just take the power from the wall and charge the battery with anything extra, when a battery is plugged in.

This is actually creating the issue of not enough power, as the battery is actively being used during heavier games,

A site not allowed to be posted here said that due to the CPU/GPU/Display is actively using more then the charger can provide.

I wouldn't increase the wattage. I don't think it's a design flaw or anything. It's just the high end components zap more power than what the battery charger can handle. Smartphones can have similar issue. My Nokia 8.3 's battery would drain while plugged in, using Google maps. It has a massive screen.

I've got a slightly less powerful Lenovo and the same thing happens so I guess it's just "normal".
Playing any sort of actual game on battery is practically impossible on mine. After about 35 minutes of something like Skyrim, I have about 20% battery left and it slows down severely.

So did you ever find a solution?

GPUs take a lot of power. Combined with heat, and the charger won't be able keep up with the output.

Not really. But the battery drain isn't constant on mine, it just drops to 95-97% and stays there while gaming.
