Its all cpop to me. The furthest distinction ill make is prob canto vs mandarin and thats because theres seemingly very little actual (indigenous)taiwanese or singaporean music in comparison

"Chthonic (sometimes typeset ChthoniC or ChThoniC) is a Taiwanese heavy metal band, formed in 1995 in Taipei. They have been called "the Black Sabbath of Asia."[4][5] The group incorporates influences from traditional Taiwanese music, including adaptations of folk songs and the use of traditional instruments, most notably the erhu (often called the hin- [] in the band's native Taiwanese Hokkien).[6] Their stated goal is to use their music to bring ancient history and mythology into the modern era especially to build awareness of the myths of Taiwan and tragic events in that country's history (for example, those experienced by the Seediq people).[7]

not sure what is tripping you up

because mainland music is VERY different, even in just the pop style. mainland pop is a lot like euro pop.
music culture in the mainland is like 10-20 years behind the times compared to Taiwanese music.

the fact that jane zhang or hua chenyu etc. exist just makes your notion incredibly interesting to say the least

jane zhang is an ok singer but the production sounds like r&b shit from the 90s. nothing innovative or interesting coming from the mainland music scene
