Sore throat, pains every where and generally feeling unwell

But I'm the only one who can do what I do and if it's not done there'll be legal consequences for the company. Plus the powers that be are stressed out so I'm expecting a write up in that situation

There's no one to train. I'm supposed to have a direct boss and two direct reports, but due to "no one wanting to work" I have to do all those jobs myself

Call in sick or bend over for them. Your choice, not theirs.

So what if they write you up, tell them to shove it. What are they gonna do, fire you? Why would they do that when they are so in need of someone to do the job that they will literally break the law to try and keep that 1 person from missing any time.

I have some unfortunate news for you: so long as continue to do the jobs of four people, there will never be any more people hired. If you fail to keep pace, they may consider firing you and hiring another person. Also, if the end of your probationary period means more money or benefits, either your probationary period will somehow be extended or they'll fire you before it is over and hire someone else so they can continue to spend little money.

Seriously, watch yourself.
