Both of these sadly, but Legacy of Goku 2 was a vast improvement even though combat in that game can easily be fought as "punch, move a little forward, and punch again".

One game that I feel like most people hated, but I actually liked, was DBZ Legends on PS1 & Sega Saturn. Super basic, but I enjoyed it back in the day.

Expected Final Bout, but while it is a shit game if you had listed it then we would've had some problems

Way better than Final Bout and Ultimate Battle 22 that were actually released in America.

All except Ultimate and Kinect.

Dont forget to add GT Final Bout to that list. As a kid I was obsessed with looking at images of that game online because it was the one and only 3D DBZ fighter at the time. Then years later I finally bought it when they rereleased it. Game was trash.

I played ultimate battle 22 but don't remember it at all. just thought it was cool it had buu saga characters

Ultimate Battle 22 was actually pretty good for its era, but North America got it late...and I played it after playing Budokai 1 to death, which isn't really fair. I was kind of blown away that a PS1 game had access to all those late-series characters like Gotenks and Kid Buu. Even Budokai 1 didn't have those guys. It was amazing, but the gameplay also felt very dated by comparison.

And having the Japanese-only voices made it feel especially weird to ~13-year-old me who had never seen a subbed anime in my life.

Sagas, on the other hand, was just outright not very good. It had some stuff going for it. The destructible environments were fun to mess around in--especially Namek with the buildings--and the beat-em-up formula works fairly well for a DBZ game. The problem is that all the mechanics were buggy as shit and the animations were silly to look at. Bosses were enormous health sponges, enemies were repetitive...overall, it had a good concept but needed another full year in development.

I remember playing the 2-player co-op with one of my best friends, and we got to the part where we were fighting Final Form Frieza as Super Saiyan Goku...and somehow or another when I threw a punch, Frieza latched onto my fist and started T-posing. Like, he was connected to my fist. When I would throw a punch, he would move with it.

It made the fight impossible to win, but it was so incredibly funny that I'll never forget it. Sagas was a terrible game but an amazing experience.

I'd like to throw in battle of z in the ring of mediocre forgotten dbz games as well

I appreciate Legacy of Goku 1. You can fly anytime instead of the chosen flight areas of the sequels and the original RPG-style music is very good in some spots.

Just ultimate, final bout, and legacy. Never played the rest.
