Took out a consolidation loan for credit cards. Was going to sit on $10K after paying off cards and getting some stuff.

Then my car died due to an issue that was supposeed to have been fixed.

So wound up putting the $10K as a down payment on a brand new CR-V EX. it was that or gamble the money on a used car or gambling in a used motor for my existing old car.

Very nice! When I got the big credit score boost first thing I did was called my car insurance and they were able to get me a cheaper deal.

I dunno how Chase, powered from Experian, gives me an 805 but Experian themselves gives me a massive lower score. These things are always weird as fuck. And the last person who hard checked my credit score said it was higher than what Experian was giving me.

I just hated having to buy my car where I did, because Colorado taxes on vehicles are insane.

Sticker price was like nearly $33K. After taxes and fees, I still owed $30K loan wise despite the $10K down payment.

My loan is 84 months at 4.11%. I could've afforded a shorter loan/higher monthlies but at that point I didn't want to tempt fate financially

I have a ton of student loans and pay them on time for the past 10+ years so my score is jacked up. I don't miss a payment on nothing and I have a bunch of bills and shit in my name so it's pretty easy to get a good score. I would love to get a house but the interest rates + student loan payments = I will be paycheck to paycheck and I do not want to live like that so I'm stuck in a small ass apartment.

My wife had a worse score but noticed her dad's credit card she was I guess attached to had like 30k of debt but she managed to get off of it and her score improved dramatically.

Only hard inquiries lower your score. Soft inquiries, like the ones these websites use, don't affect your score.

You want to keep it below 40% or something IIRC, using it too much even if you pay it off completely can still hurt you

I'm assuming every company/case is different, but I'm a little under 30% utilization right now and still dropped about 15 points when I made an early payment.
