Folks always like to say that everyone thinks the world was better when they were a kid, but all around me it seems like everything is on a downward spiral except for the people who are flying the plane, so to speak. Climate change, ridiculous housing prices, out of control food prices, decreasing civil liberties, stagnant wages, and political instability. I mean...what exactly is on the horizon that looks hopeful?

And before you tell me to touch grass, the grass is just as expensive outside as it appears to be from the inside. Like, people irl you see around seem crabby and full of despair. Shit has been bad since around when COVID started and I haven't seen much an improvement since it winded down. I don't know if I had COVID and got long COVID or what, but my health has been shit and the doctors I see are at a loss. A close relative of mine has gotten COVID a couple of times and he is really freaked out about some of the long-term stuff that he is still dealing with.

I'd be surprised if humanity doesn't kill itself off by 2030.
