It is particularly cruel that Ida gets a happy ending but Ryoko kinda doesn't. I doubt Renya is the hugging type, but I suppose him being an emotionally distant, glasses wearing nerd with an analytical mindset could help him make a decent enough Ida substitute for her >_> Though on the other end, Ryoko doesn't share much in common with Morimura.

I thought the gameplay was pretty fun but it also wasn't good enough to want to play beyond the story. It felt like there was enough.

I played one to see if there was any banter. Once I saw there wasn't, that was enough for me.

Hijiyama and Okino is my favorite ship in the game and one of my favorite ships in gaming. I wasn't really into their relationship for most of the game, but seeing the 2188 versions of each other being clearly in love with each other is really heartwarming and puts their previous relationship in a nice light.

Glad you got to finish the game! One day, I'll watch the entire game in chronological order and see how that experience will do. I have to do a 18 hour flight in a few weeks so that might be the best time to do that.

I loved that scene too for playing their relationship completely seriously, Hijiyama is one of the best 2188 characters.

I've been meaning to post a proper character ranking but haven't gotten around to writing them out. So instead, here's a quick gut ranking of the main 13 before this topic purges

I like pretty much everybody, but the top 3 are clear in front (Team BJ!), Megumi is a clear last, and Iori and Renya don't get much development. Still, it feels bad putting some of them low down. If I was purely ranking based on their stories, Ryoko and Nenji would be higher.

Decent ranking. I'd have Juro, Amaguchi, and Gouto higher than that, but I can't quibble with it too much.

Huh, thanks for that poll though I am very confused. I thought I'd have Ryoko higher than most people, and I really wouldn't have expected Ei to be the least popular of the playable cast. Then they have 426 split into 4 or 5 different slots, Okino into two, and I don't know the difference between the #22 and #29 Morimuras. Strange. At least we all love Natsuno!

Yeah these Japanese character polls always seem to be a bit different than how I imagine a western equivalent would go. For example from discussions I've seen Megumi seems to be pretty universally regarded as one of (if not the) weakest characters, but she's fifth in that poll
