Would they just wear the next size armor up to compensate for their boobs and not actual armor woth boob indentions?

Yeah, boob armor is a dumb concept when you stop and think about it.

Realistically women would wear the same exact armor as men because nobody is wasting extra metal on shaping tits.

Dunno. I've practiced fencing for a few years and the girls would wear boob protectors under their suit.

Considering the wide range of impractical stupid dick having armors I wouldn't think so.

That's what happened in Fire Emblem Fates. One of the units named Effie has this big boob armor, but when you look at her underwear model in the accessory menu, she's pretty flat >_> Never have I been so disappointed in a waifu

There would probably be extra room on the chest plate for the boobs, but they wouldn't follow any of the curves.

As for a counterexample, in Fates there's a unit named Peri that has flat chestplate armor. But when you stare at her underwear outfit in the accessory menu, you found out that she has HUUUUUUGE tits.

So any chest plate would needs a couple inches clearance from the chest because people need to breathe and thus chest need room to expand. Also having your plate touching any part of your chest makes it even more susceptible to hammers as now your plate is bent in to your likely broken ribs and your chest can no longer expand to breathe.

So the idea that women would have individual breast cups that their boobs would presumably fit in is completely silly. As a a large concaved plate like a men would have would be more than adequate. Boob would also effectively turn the cleavage into an wedge. One good whack with a weapon and that wedge is now an axehead lined up perfectly on your sternum.

Don't get me wrong there have been breast plates with breasts on them. But they were almost always decorative and put on top of a normal breast plate, not places for boobs to go in. Also they were on nobility who were not actually going to fight. Which is good since said breast would hinder articulation of the arms.

If we're talking about knight armor, it would probably make sense to have a slightly different curvature for women to be more comfortable. As far as I know, female soldiers wear the same IOTVs male soldiers do...so I guess they don't need armor designed for women.

Who cares? Boob armor is fun! Why does everyone want things to be realistic all the time? What happened to fun?

Realistically theyd have the boob on the side of the dominant arm removed to improve their range of motion a la Amazons.

I suppose they would cause a confusion debuff the bigger they were but that would only apply for female warriors who dont use boob armor.

Women would be burned at the stake for heresy/witchcraft for wearing armor. Historical precedent is not how to go about this.

Armor like that was pure vanity. The dick didnt go in it and it probably was more of a hazard than actual protection. The people wearing this were likely nobility who weren't actually expected to do much combat.

This. Very little about video game weapons or armor are all that realistic, whether that be for 'rule of cool' reasons or various aesthetic decisions by design teams.

In history most nobility would've been fighting since that's how they legitimized themselves, gained honor and made wealth. The image of nobility sending the poor to fight is a poorly misguided image of older warfare, in fact if you look at history fighting was often a privileged and people wanted to fight. Classical Greek writers wrote that oligarchies were more stable because in a democracy the people often voted to go to war, there's times in Roman history that the citizen militia would force their commanders into battle or even force them to go to war. And the people leading them often fought from the front, the classical Greeks had high casualty rates among their officers because military authority was not valid unless you were willing to prove yourself.

Now there is some armors like the muscle cuirass used by the Greeks and Romans but these armors were used along big protective shields which were the main line of defense in battle, body armor was secondary to the shield in most cases until the advent of plate armor. Some scholars even theorize that when Herodotos describes the Persians as unarmored at Plataea he does so because they lack shields which in the Classical Era was the shield was the hallmark of heavy infantry.

Pretty sure that this whole thread is about using real history to inform fantasy. Not sure why you're picking out my post in particular (unless it's just because it's making a point you don't like).

Everyone who wore full suits of armour was nobility. At least in the high middle ages. And nobility would definitely fight.

Different societies also have very different norms. Just because we would think "that's just vanity, it would have no place in battle", that doesn't mean they'd think the same way. A lot of warrior societies would definitely display things in battle for the purpose of showing off, and boob armour you see in post #29 is pretty mild in that respect. Although other aspects of the suit do seem a bit odd.

Come to think about it, a lot of fantasy armour is absolutely filled with stuff that's completely ridiculous and would make it impossible to do anything. Boob armour is probably the least impractical decoration you're ever likely to see in a fantasy game. Weird that it's the one thing people complain about the most.

It is. That would be insanely bad armor for armed conflict. Kudos on them adding in a belly button for the extra "lol at using this in combat" effect.
