I will also join team liking the Dr Pershing episode a lot. It was a welcome change of pace, it built the world like Andor did (although the moment to moment writing in Andor is much better), and it felt like it was contributing to the overall Imperial Remnant story despite not having any of the main characters in it.

As for the season itself I didnt dislike it, actually I had a lot of fun with it. However, it was comfortably the weakest season and a lot of that is down to structural issues. Almost all of the narrative of this season is in the final two episodes. At the same it feels scattered so you dont get either enough of the adventure of the week feel or the serialised story feel and it just comes off as strange.

I dont think the issue is that Disney needs to hire a writer. Rather I think the issue is they have hired a writer and only one writer. Jon Favreau is writing every episode, almost entirely by himself. Occasionally Dave Filoni co-writes (and Noah Kloor for one episode) but the vast majority of the work is by Favreau. The simplicity of the writing really makes it seem like he spread himself too thin and they need more writers on the show.

I really dont want to be that negative though. These last two episodes were great!

If I had a complaint about the season it's mostly that it felt to me that it backdoored itself into being about returning to Mandalore. Seasons 1 and 2 were strong in that they had a really clear goal and expectations for the broad strokes of the story, while Season 3 just didn't have that expectation from the start which might be why it felt like there were pacing issues.

I did like a lot of the individual episodes and I don't think it's a bad season or anything, but I think I just liked the solo Mando vibe better overall. Maybe it will go back that way if the Mandalore plot line is actually resolved.

I just miss when Mando was about figuring out how to take down a single AT-ST or Tie Fighter. Everything about the show use to feel very intimate and now they tried to scale things up and I just feel like I'm watching Rise of Skywalker again.

I only watched the first three episodes of this season. Some of that I'll attribute to Star Wars burnout, but it's just... not that good. The Dr Pershing episode is actually what made me finally drop it, even though it was a bit more engaging than the other two. I loved Andor, and it seemed like that episode was trying to be it and misunderstanding what made Andor good. There was some decent worldbuilding, but it totally failed at developing characters and seemed to fail to convey whatever it was trying to get at. Reminded me that I would rather be watching Andor, or any one of the number of better shows out there.

The Pershing episode was really good, but it's kind of a bummer that it feels like there was never a real payoff from it. I'm sure there will be in the future, but it just feels like wasted potential for now.

also left hanging on Who Freed Gideon?

or was the "beskar was involved!" tease just about the fact he ended up with his own beskar anyways

Yeah, I think the solution was that his own beskar enhanced troopers broke him out

I enjoyed it, but I'll agree that it felt like a lot of set-up combined with keeping Gideon around to provide an opponent to "taking back Mandalore".

I think they could have revealed Gideon a little sooner. Could have started with Bo-Katan having her fleet still and not have taken so long to get to a war if there was going to be a war. But I enjoyed it.
