Last time I got to Volcano Mansion or whatever it was called.

I didn't explore the inside at all, then telephoned to the big kingdom area that also has a sewer.

I got stuck somewhere there, then transported to the overworld and explored some. I found a place with dragons all over. I got tired of being 1 hit killed by regular enemies, so I stopped playing.

I know I will return at some point when my backlog is cleared. Should I start from scratch, or just pick up where I left off? It seems like if I start all over again I'll just get tired of it where I last got fed up.

Yeah, that seems to be a big cornerstone of the game. Which just seems like a dumb excuse for them to say "They gave you all the tools to deal with basic enemies one shotting you!".

Idk. I like Sekiro a lot more. But I might get bored during summer time and want something to play.

To that other guy, I haven't played it in like 5 months. And it'll probably be longer still cause I got a bunch of other games to play through.

If basic enemies are one-shotting you, you need to level Vigor.
For the point of the game you were at, you should be in the 30-35 range ideally. Anything below that is for advanced players and sadists.
Also, it's never required to use summons. Helpful sometimes though.

I'm guessing you wandered into Dragonborrow near Caelid. It's like the only ''transition'' area that isn't really telegraphed as well as going from like Liurnia to Altus Plateau. Caelid is still somewhat early-mid game ish in terms of enemy strength, but Dragonborrow just a little to its north is full of ridiculously strong lategame enemies.
