This is real simple. It's a bunch of letters with costumes beneath them divided into sections. If the section a costume is in is higher up that means I think the costume is trending more toward good than evil. If the costume is at the bottom then I think it's right down there with the people who pick the Siegfried costume for Nightmare in Soul Calibur 2 and the people who use the blue Donkey Kong in Super Smash games.

I count all sorts of things. This isn't purely cosmetic. How it feels using it in game, how you unlock it and any other implications from wearing it count too.

Exceptions:
-No super costumes except for one that deserves a mention because they're just DT modifiers with no cosmetic effect.
-You gotta be playable, so no DMC5 Nico/Trish/Lady.
-No default costumes, it'd become less about costumes and more about lasting changes made to the designs over the years.
-Devil Trigger forms don't count.
-No DmC because fuck em. (Don't worry it'll find its way in regardless.)

S TIER: THIS PIECE OF CLOTHING IS WHAT ALL TRUE WARRIORS STRIVE FOR!
-Shirtless Dante (DMC3)
-Coatless Vergil (DMC3)
-Lady with Trish's color scheme (DMC4)

A TIER: COSTUMES THAT DO NOT SUCK. COSTUMES THAT ARE GOOD, EVEN.
-Prototype Nero (DMC4)
-Super Corrupt Vergil (Play as Nelo Angelo mode) (DMC3)
-Corrupt Vergil (DMC3)
-Diesel Dante (DMC2)
-Coatless DMC1 Dante (DMC3)

B TIER: OKAYISH COSTUMES FOR OKAYISH PEOPLE.
-LDK Dante (DMC4)
-LDK Dante (DMC1)
-Diesel Lucia 1 (DMC2)
-Trish with Lady's color scheme (DMC4)

C TIER: ATTIRE I RAISE NARY AN EYEBROW UPON SEEING.
-DMC1 Dante (DMC3)
-LDK Vergil (DMC4)
-Diesel Lucia 2 (DMC2)

D TIER: CLOTHING THAT PUTS THE WEAR IN WEARY.
-LDK Dante (DMC3)
-Secretary Lucia (DMC2)
-Gloria (DMC4)
-DMC1 Dante (DMC2)
-Red Vergil (DMC4)

E TIER: YOU BRING GREAT SHAME AND SO DOES YOUR COSTUME.
-Vergil: Blue Edition (DMC5)
-DMC3 Lady (DMC4)
-Green V (DMC5)
-Blue Nero (DMC4)

F TIER: IT'S MORE DIRTY LAUNDRY FOR YOU AND YOUR GOONS!
-Emo Dante (DMC4)
-Blue Eyes White Nero (DMC5)
-Emo Dante (DMC5)

You can use this list to add extra stipulations to the games. Pick a bad costume and try to look bad while playing bad maybe. Pick a good costume and try to ruin its reputation by being insipid and tedious perhaps. Pick a middle of the road costume and be the one to put it on the map.
This is all very important.

I have played the games a bunch of times and while I like to replay them a lot, posting about them is the best way to find some new ways to look at them or get some outside input.

If there's a costume you think is too high or too low I can go to bat for/against it.

Well you see if this tier list was on Human difficulty I'd walk you through every detail of every costume, post pictures and give my full thoughts.

If it was on Devil Hunter difficulty I might write a more detailed description of each tier and explain why similar looking costumes in different games can be in such different tiers.

Here we are on Son Of Sparda, where you get this topic.

On DMD I would devil trigger after a while and start re-arranging the ranking in confusing ways, perhaps make up some costume ideas of my own and put them in S tier.
