Is "from fiscal means" supposed to mean from a wealthy family? Of the artists I know, the answer would largely be no. --- https://i.imgur.com/qUAL3fG.gifv ... Copied to Clipboard!

maybe. in the past, successful artists would often have patrons, but besides that, outside of talent, you're going to need some kind of luck to be able to live exclusively as an artist if you don't have some kinda financial backing. --- Don't you agree, Zach? https://streamable.com/bmh5oq ... Not now. Sucky artist can make a ton of a money by drawing lewd stuff online. This wouldn't be what I wanted to do. But if was an artist full time. I assume to mean the literal term of "art" as in a drawing, painting, or scupture. But my brother in law came from literal dirt poor conditions (as in the house he grew up in literally had a dirt floor in some rooms) in Ohio, and is now a fairly successful/famous opera singer, which I consider and art. Depends, if they aren't actually making much or any money, yeah, someone is probably supporting them. Most of the artists I knew when I was younger had another job to pay the bills. I'm sure it's probably easier than ever to make money from art though with social media. --- "People incapable of guilt usually do have a good time" -Detective Rust Cohle ... Copied to Clipboard!

My brother is an artist (specializing in ceramics/pottery) and we came from a middle class family. Though financially hes always struggled somewhat and our parents have had to bail him out a couple times. He lives in my house as my roommate for the last few years and uses his half of the garage as his studio. I even had electricians install a high power circuit (240V-50A) there to run his electric kiln. He has great talent and productivity when hes motivated but he has a hard time commercializing his work and otherwise promoting himself. So, he doesnt make as much money as I think he could if he spent more time on it. He worked at an art store as both a teacher and retail associate for years but hated the managers after awhile and quit. Now he works for the city as a teacher for art classes but thats only a part time gig. --- Posted from my iPhone 13 ... Copied to Clipboard!
