Was that there was no twist? Honestly. I didn't like that lol. His twists are what make his movies great watches.

It's based on a book. If I remember right, the kid is accidentally shot and dies. But that doesn't count as the necessary sacrifice. The parents refuse to kill themselves and I guess the world ends? something like that anyway

At least this has a bit of a twist to it. He should have kept this.

The movie was good imo and the ending was better than the book's from what I've read. The twist is that they're telling the truth, the entire movie builds it up as the group being a bunch of lunatics speaking nonsense, until the planes start crashing. Then its like oh shit. Also Rupert Grint's character being previously connected with the family, and all of them being essentially the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse+this being a thing that families in this universe have to decide throughout history.

Also this doesn't really get talked about with his movies but Shyamalan is a master at blocking. Really great visuals. Used that small space really well.

Given the book had a twist ending not going that direction was the twist.

i havent read the book or seen the movie yet but ive heard the ending is deliberately ambiguous where its not revealed wether the people who wanted them to sacrifice one of their family were right or just all crazy

If you're known to have twists, but then you go and not have a twist, then it's not really a twist. It's just subverting expectations, and we already have too much of that in hollywood >.>
