I know it has to be the water, but ever since I move into my new place. My pets who live in water have been dying. I just don't know what to do. I have been keeping tanks for years and just wow.

Note I know most people here can't help. But I just need to vent and sadly not many people care about a 30 something year old fat man crying about losing a fish.

Maybe Mabus has some advice. I know he's into fish and is knowledgeable on the topic.

Thanks, but I didn't want to tag him. He helps me all the time. I feel bad because I never had anything I can help him with. I feel like I am treating him like people treat the friend with the pick up .

The fish are giving me issues. But it has been everything. When I first moved in and got my huge tank. My almost 20 year old turtle stop moving. I assumed she was died. She didn't move for over an hour . However I put her in the sun and she came back to live. And this was in the summer so it not like a brumation.

Anywho just fish are acting up now. I just had a convict go sick, and not my parrot.

Things here i'd suggest, most places will do water testing for free through your city, i'd see about doing that and checking especially for heavy metals and lead. Cycle is a good product that introduces mass bacteria to the water generally for speeding up the initial tank set up, but is good for the overall general health. If you aren't using aquarium salt, definitely do that also, they make it for freshwater aquariums, it's something like a tablespoon per gallon of water, and it helps with general tank infections, and keeping them out.

Gradually raise your water temperature to around 78-79, about a degree a day, and let it sit for about a week until reducing it back. Probably my favorite solution to ick is temperature increase, no chemicals, you can take it as high as 80, and they simply will just die off. Your fish will be more active and eat more, but that's fine for a while. Working at Petco, they had this blue shit that turned the water that color for treatment, but i'd temperature and salt treat the tanks instead when we had issues and it worked great every time, just not recommended with goldfish or Koi.

If you can get a pic of any physical abnormalities on your fish, and want to post them, I might can help out more. You can always tag me in fish topics, you are like one of three people besides me who love the hobby so i'm always good to talk about it and help out.

Might be worth checking to see if your heater is still working well? Get a spare thermometer and check the water temperature (do thermometers go bad? I genuinely don't know). Have your fish *been* happy at that pH level, or has it changed recently with the move?

I have nothing to offer this topic, but I can totally understand why you would be upset at losing fish. Weve got a goldfish whos now about 4 years old (never had one live that long). We take excellent care of her, and would be devastated if she died.

If you just moved, have you personally felt sick since? Im wondering if there may be some environmental contaminant in the house which could affect the tanks. Its probably not the case.

Update, my local Walmart was out of strips. So I am going to go to a different town about an hour away to get some. However...the fish I assumed died. Wasn't he is still swimming funny but that is okay. So I will have a readings soon. Normally I have strips of my on but I guess they got old or wet and were not working. Anywho. Thanks once more.

Oh I just remembered I had a big spill . That could be why they are messed up . Dammit.

Yeah chameleons are intermediate to expert care level, they can be finicky, require a very specific habitat and attention.

Look into a bearded dragon or a gecko, they are a lot easier.

I had a veiled chameleon, he was an asshole, they don't live very long, but he'd snatch crickets off of my hand with his long assed tongue and it was cool.

chameleon eyesballs, Goat pupils, Owls Eye tubes..

All freak me out.

Chameleon hands are like snake mouths, they are very strange. Adults basically break skin if you let them crawl on your finger, made that mistake once, claws are brutal and they have a very firm grip.

how long have you been in your new place? is it possible they're just so stressed from the move that they up and died? animals can be finnicky with changes in environment, especially smaller and/or aquatic ones

if you've been moved for like a month though and they just started then that probably aint it

I had salt water fish for years. Gave up after the last batch randomly died. 2 clown fish survived and lived for another few years by themselves in a big tank. They got huge. Then one day they were belly up.

Dont use strips, they can be really inaccurate. I recommend the API test kit. Its a bit expensive but it works. Alternatively, any pet shop that sells fish can test the water for you.

Oh I just remembered I had a big spill . That could be why they are messed up . Dammit.

What kind of spill? Did they end up on the floor or did you spill something into them?

Also be careful of things like windex and air fresheners. Anything that goes into the air can settle into the tank.

MY outtake pop up and water started shooting out of the tank. So that fed things up. And why I was changing the water to start with. And Thanks I didn't thnk about the Air fresheners.
