Current Events > My cousin didn't know about sequence breaking in Super Metroid. *Spoilers*

So, a couple of years ago my cousin visited me, and one of the games he used to own was Super Metroid. It was also the only Metroid game he ever played.

Anyway, he never knew about all the sequence breaking tricks, like accessing Kraid's Lair without the High jump boots, using wall jumping to access areas earlier than intended, the glitch where you can restart the game with most of your equipment, or even saving the animals as you escape the planet. I was showing him a video for Super Metroid sequence breaks and his mind was blown. Maybe I should've showed him a speedrun of that game too.

I also showed him a few minutes of most of the other Metroid games and to be honest, Aside from maybe the Metroid Prime trilogy, I wasn't sure of any games from the series I recommended to him. He's definitely interested in checking out the rest of the series, though I told him to avoid Other M. Any recommendations on what games from the series he should play, or other Metroidvania games (Though I suggested he play Hollow Knight)?

Guacamelee 1 & 2, both Ori games, and the first Axiom Verge.

And of course, all of the Metroid-style Castlevanias

It's adorable, cute, and ball bustingly, soul crushingly difficult. One of my favorite games.

I'll second the Guacamelee games and Axiom Verge. After Hollow Knight my second favorite Metroidvania is Aeterna Noctis, though that may not be everyone's cup of tea(even though patches made it easier AND added an easy mode). Some others I liked besides Metroid:

Ender Lilies
Castlevania SotN
Castlevania CotM
Bloodstained RotN
The Messenger(though this starts as a linear platformer before it becomes a Metroidvania)
