Useless Space

Looking for a new SRPG, but since I don't have a Switch, FE is out.

These two have caught my eye, but other suggestions are appreciated.

Tactics Ogre is on my list of SRPGs to play, along with Digimon Survive and Triangle Strategy

If Final Fantasy Tactics gets a Switch port/remaster in the near future I'm absolutely fucked

Squeenix is too busy pumping out weird FF7 knockoffs to drop a FFT game on us.

I'm still holding out hope that they'll dump a Sword of Mana/FF: A remaster on us someday.

While I haven't played Reborn, I've played the previous versions + SRW30 and it is hard to imagine it not being *substantially* better than SRW30. SRW30 just isn't that good, and unless you are really into a series that is represented in the game it's a hard recommendation. The stages are relatively weak due to them almost exclusively being featureless squares, but it's made worse by the fairly absurd lack in difficulty. At first there is some difficulty to work with, but by the end I had moved from Normal -> Hard -> Expert -> Super Expert and could barely tell the difference my characters were so overpowered compared to everything I encountered. Tactics Ogre, on the flip side, is easily one of the best SRPGs period and is largely must-play for anyone into the genre at all. As I said I haven't played the newest remake, but considering its near universal praise as a remake I find it pretty safe to say that it's also a must play.

Fell Seal is a FFT clone. Yes it's not even in the same universe in terms of being as good as FFT, but it is worth checking out if you haven't played it already.

Not the first time Steam reviews have lead me astray. I'm huge into Gundam and Mazinger though so there's that.

I'll take a peak, thanks.

I am a huge SRW fan and was super excited to hear it was coming to Steam.

however after playing the first couple of stages... I was unimpressed: both with its animations and its gameplay. I have never played Tactics Ogre before (LOVE OGRE BATTLE), but I would recommend it too.

Not familiar with SRW at all, but I guess this is as good a topic as any to mention that I am having a vastly better experience with Tactics Ogre Reborn than I did with LUCT on the PSP. It's been so long since I played LUCT that I can't remember all the differences, and what makes TO:R better; but I'm pretty sure I just passed with flying colors the same mission in TO:R that forced me to abandon my LUCT playthrough, because I was at the point of dealing only single-digit damage to enemies and didn't see any way out of that situation.
