I'd have literally the same take if everyone involved was an adult. It's just particularly egregeous that people are willing to accept murder as a consequence for stealing when on top of it the person in question was a preteen.

Vigilantism is bad. Killing somebody for stealing your shit is bad. These are usually not controversial statements. But on CE they are.

How I feel: Sucks to have a 12 year old die over a car and I won't begin to shed a tear for however many years that guy is sent to prison for, and the situation was entirely preventable with both parties carrying out very dumb decisions so really I don't have that much sympathy to give around other than to that kid's parents and family.

If you are safe, you don't get to put yourself into danger and then later claim self defense.

If the kid was armed, it's self defense, no charges to the owner.
If the kid was unarmed, manslaughter - So yeah the owner should be charged.
if the accomplishes are of legal age, then I'm fairly certain they can be charged with murder.
