It seems so obvious.

Tell a story about a witch, wizard, or magician who used magic to realize their true self. Address topical issues, but don't preach at the audience. Just go on a magical adventure and have fun with it. Ride unicorns and fight ice dragons.

In the Wheel of Time, one (maybe two) of the antagonist characters gets killed, and then reincarnated, in an opposite gender body.
The switch was not by their own choice

Does that count?

And in WoT, the magic system is divided on gender lines, but i forget how that shift is handled
Edit: looked it up and they still used the male type of magic, despite having a female body

If you literally change your sex via magic are you actually trans? Or are you just the opposite sex now?

How would people react if the villain magically reverted the protag to their previous gender and then sealed the ability to change back? Or if the world was full of anti-magic creatures that track down magical beings, drain the magic from them and undo any magically augments or changes they've made?

Also this. If you skip to the goal being achieved, is it still something someone who has to actively try quite hard to live as the other gender will relate to?

TC you should check out the Culture series. It's science fiction, not magic, but it's set in post-scarcity, post-singularity liberal anarchistic utopia society where citizens freely change their gender and even species on a whim all the time. In this society it's actually considered weird to not explore your place on the gender spectrum and flip back and forth between male or female or whatever else in-between.

It was pretty OP for the time considering women can't see men using saidin, and vice versa for men being unable to see women using saidar.

I mean if a person developed transformative magic powers and wanted their body to biologically be the opposite sex, I would expect that to be one of the first feats on their list...
