I use to argue against people who truly believed Super Perfect Cell would have beaten Movie 8 Broly. My ace to support my argument was that Goku believed Gohan's hidden powers was more than enough to defeat Cell while Goku told Gohan to run away against Broly.

There's 2 versions of Broly now.

Z Broly, whose origin is hating Goku because Goku was always crying as a baby in the crib next Goku's, is only for the movies.

Then there's DBS Broly, who doesn't have that grudge against Goku, who has only shown up in movies so far but is canon in the continuity.

Edit: Technically there's 3 versions of Broly, but we don't talk about that 3rd version.

Neither Goku or Gohan were FPSSJ against Broly. Gohan has to train at least some, he can't pull power out of nowhere.

The fights in these movies were pretty bad, just the big bad tanking hits nonstop until someone pulls a powerup out of their ass or Goku uses spirit bomb.

But, they were pretty and had their moments.

Goku was post-heart disease pre-ROSAT, Gohan was SSJ but pre-ROSAT, because the movies take place in a nebulous No Man's Land in regards to timeline.

I'd say even though they're not in SSJ form they're at the point where they're resting waiting for the Cell tournament. At that point Gohan was more than SSJ2 ready.

Dont the villains get sequentially stronger as the series go? Like they go from shit like kaio ken times 8 to shit like SSJ4 which multiplies power by how many hundreds or thousands? Plus all the training besides that to increase their base power
so because they fight brolly earlier hes more of a threat because they are weaker but then by the time they fight cell they could slap brolly around effortlessly

They stayed in SSJ between leaving the ROSAT and the Cell games. They are not in SSJ in the Broly movie except when they fight. Also IIRC Gohan is shorter than when he left the ROSAT, so pre-growth spurt.

Yes however Gotenks likes to play around so Broly would potentially get angry enough to the point where he'll get stronger than Gotenks.
