Yeah there's a ton of stuff down there. Actually finding it, getting it safely, and the cost of doing it can be huge.

I think one good example is the nazi uboats potentially just stuffed with loads of expensive stuff from all the shit they stole.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_galleon_San_Jos%C3%A9

The wreck of the San Jos is estimated to be worth billions of dollars,[4][7][8] based on the speculation that it had up to 11 million 4-doubloons (i.e. 11 million 8 escudos gold coins, or 11 million coins each of 27 grams of 92% gold, totaling 8.8 million troy ounces AGW, or $11.5 billion) and many silver coins on board at the time of its sinking

They've actually found these types of ships before.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuestra_Se%C3%B1ora_de_las_Mercedes

This turned into a legal case because it was grabbed right off the coast of Spain and Portugal where it had been sunk in a battle with the British in 1805. They recovered half a million gold and silver coins.

An American treasure hunting company found the wreck. Took the treasure out, sent it back to the US but when it all went up for auction Spain caught wind of it and managed to successfully sue for the contents of the ship to be sent back to Spain.

After this case I wouldn't be surprised if other wrecks have been found and the contents melted down and sold without the world knowing about it.

That's kind of insane. The dispute over who owns it kind of reminds me of when the British museum didn't want to send back all the items it took from other countries

Theres a show dedicated to people mining for gold in the ocean, spill off from arctic mountains among other sites. They pull up sand and sift through it separating gold particles, sometimes pulling in a lot of money. It was on Discovery, Bering Sea Gold I think.

At the bottom of the ocean, sunken ships are turned into tourist attractions by mermaids.
You follow a mermaid wearing nerd glasses around while she makes her best guess at what the deck, the rooms below deck and the crow's nest are used for.
At the end you go to the souvenir shop where you can buy shiny coins, gems and other lost treasure.

Gold, diamond, and ruby all have very low chemical reactivity so theyll persist in the environment for far longer than a few centuries.

I mean you say this in past tense

That's still going on. Britan is STILL refusing to return the stuff they stole from other countries. It's fucking nasty.

Imagine if Japanese just invaded America, took the Declaration of Independence, George Brett's pine tar bat and the Lincoln mounment and then refused to give it back?

Gold won't erode, corrode, rust, its versatile to the elements and part of why they use it in space helmet visors.

Dude think about that for a minute. Granite erodes. And it is a hell of a lot harder than gold. Now, everything else you said is true.

Gold absolutely can erode. That is how flour gold and tiny specs of gold come to be, they are over time with water, sand, currents, turned to smaller pieces of gold.

It boggles my mind that we can lay gold on glassplastic in such a thin layer that it's see through.
