The seats in the front & disability seating are cheaper, the seats in the center are more expensive.

I sat all the way in the front once. Never again. My neck hurt so much when I finally got up

Are you kidding? Reserving your seating is a million times better than the old method of "Guess we better show up an hour early to make sure we're not stuck in the front row." Being able to walk in minutes before the start of the movie knowing the exact seat you want is reserved is worth having to plan ahead, and even if you don't you can still buy tickets at the theater if you really want and gamble on good seats being left.

I don't mind people getting a discount if they sit in the first few rows since those are awful, but I don't like charging more for the other seats.

taking after the airlines... i was looking at a Delta flight where aisle seat in like row 20 was $70 more than aisle row 31.

dont get me wrong, i hate waiting for these morons to get their luggage and deplane as much as the next guy, but people paying $70 to get off the plane five minutes faster is the reason other industries are going to start nickeling and diming in ways like this.

If they're copying airlines then the inevitable next step is taking the best seats and making them reservable only by AMC rewards members.

I dont understand why someone would want to subscribe unless theyre really going to the theater multiple times a month consistently. Id end up wasting money because there would be like 1-2 movies Id want to see every few months or so lol.

1 IMAX movie or 2 regular movies a month and the sub already pays for itself.

This. The front row seats are always empty because RIP your neck up there. So making those cheaper might tempt people to deal with that. No reason to nickel and dime people on the other seats though.

You're missing out then. In Los Angeles both AMC and Look Cinemas have dine-in options. Having reserved seating allows them to have a system where they deliver the food directly to your seat. So you can order popcorn, a burger and fries, pizza, etc., and it comes right to you during the movie. No waiting in a long line to buy your food.

It's really great. Especially with how cushy the seats are. Big leather recliners with heated seats

I'm sure this is wonderful for everybody else in the theater who constantly has serving staff walking in front of them holding a tray of food

Oh no, the average person does not.

  1. I love movies
  2. The theater is 2 minutes away
  3. My fiance doesn't get home until 8:30 three nights a week, so I might as well fairly often

$23 a month for about 5 movies isn't bad, and I almost never get popcorn or anything.

They don't do that. The trays stay in the isle and they only bring the food into the row.

99% of the time it's just popcorn refills.

It's not intrusive at all at the locations I've been to. There's a pretty noticable height difference between each row, to the point that if someone is walking in the row in front of you, they aren't blocking your view at all. Less seats in the theater because of that, but a lot less cramped feeling too.

This. Nothing like picking your seat ahead of time and getting there late just enough to skip the ads. I refuse to go to the movies otherwise.

I'm just piggybacking on this to say I'm the same way with my A-List sub. I don't think I consistently hit 5 a month, but I did last month. Usually it's 3-4. But one of the benefits for me personally is that I'm much more likely to see stuff I'm only somewhat interested in, or that I hear good things about, since I'm not paying for individual tickets. I've seen a lot of good stuff (and some not so good) that I wouldn't have bothered with otherwise.
