I saw you can earn random cards by leveling up cards. Are the cards actually randomized on what you earn? I have a principal on not supporting games with paid gacha or loot box stuff and technically this doesn't fall into it (thank goodness). Also, am I fighting bots? I won all of my matches I just started playing and the opponent are clearly using cards that are not available at the start but they are making some baffling decisions. They could've easily won their matches if they put a card in an another location. I'm hesistant on calling them bots because in every one of my matches the actions they done are "instant" and rather look like wait times a human makes.

Still a fun game though, I can see why it's addicting. Games go by super fast and if you lose you can blame it on the RNG not being on your side lol.

I guess I'm lucky I haven't played any decks that does that lol. I can see that being annoying though. Discarding in any TCG is annoying because it disrupts your strategy you planned ahead of time.

They're random, but with a clear path. You earn them one "series" at a time. You start off in series 1, which are pretty basic cards with simpler mechanics. Then you get to series 2, which is a bit more sophisticated and complex.

Then, when you hit series 3, it starts to stretch out a bit more. You have a guarantee to get at least one card from every 4 caches you open, but it's possible to get more. You can also very rarely get a card from series 4 or 5 at this level.

So in a way, yes, it's random, but you're also protected by bad luck protection so you'll eventually get cards. The collector token store helps a lot with targeting specific cards over time, too.

You can't unlock doubles, and when you get a variant, the variant does not take the place of a new card, it's just another reward you can get instead of a card.

Dude thanks a lot for a thorough answer.

2 more questions:
Is there any FOMO when it comes to new cards getting released? I asked because I see there's a battle pass.

Also is there any other way in unlocking cards besides leveling up and the battle pass?

I stopped playing once I started noticing how stupid some of the location effects were.

After the season pass runs its course, the exclusive card gets added to series 5, which is by far the rarest series. But they do slowly lower the series number on older cards to make them easier to obtain over time.

The only other way to get cards is to buy a bundle in the store that has a variant of that card. You can buy and use a store variant even if you don't own the base card, but you will still eventually unlock the base card from a cache, so it doesn't affect your overall unlock progression speed.

Its random so far on if the season pass card is OP or not, but they do get added normally in the pool after the season ends. The first two were meh, but the last two are OP. The next season pass card looks meh as well.
