The same is true for pretty much anything considered "southern" food. So there is a decent chance that this was put together by actual black people trying to have their heritage represented. I would feel better if they also put collared greens on the menu though lol. On the flip side, if they also included watermelon and grape soda, then you know they're just racist pieces of shit. That's something my grandad pointed out to a black co worker. A lot of what's considered soul food was just southern poor people's food. Who doesn't like fried chicken though. Never met a person who says it tastes bad, at best they don't eat it for health reasons or cause they are vegan/vegetarian. I'd have to look it up again but I remember reading a article stating that watermelons where originally a positive black thing. Something about its what a lot of former slaves decided to farm and it was a symbol of their freedom. Food shouldn't be stereotyped though..not in America at least where we co opt everybody else's food and just americanize it. Like I jokingly say pizza is American simply because almost everyone likes pizza here.
